You might be here because:

  • You experience frequent flashbacks of the event.

  • You feel like you will never be able to feel safe again.

  • You find it difficult to build or maintain relationships.

  • Your impulsive behavior is causing chaos in your life.

  • You have trouble with memory and often experience gaps in time.

  • You use unhealthy coping mechanisms, such as self-harm, to deal with your feelings.

Did the lack of control in that moment create fear or distrust within you?

You do not have to live like this forever.

You have the power to change your situation.

Research has found that trauma encodes into our nervous system as a future self-defense system. This system is designed to keep us safe should the situation happen again. Unfortunately, this also means that the body is always on the defense.

The key is to help the body understand that the distressing moment has passed and you are safe. Coping skills, like mindfulness, exposure therapy, and Cognitive processing, can help rewire the system. There are also more advanced therapies like Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Complementary and Integrative Health (CIH) that have been proven to help resolve trauma.

How I can help:

I want to help you better understand how your body, mind, and soul work together.

This knowledge will give you a sense of control and the capability to manage your symptoms, which can lead to a significant reduction in anxiety, fear, and other physical reactions, bringing a sense of relief and hope for a more manageable future.

For some people, learning these skills might be enough, while others might need more advanced forms of trauma therapy. In 2022, I completed training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). This therapy technique uses bilateral stimulation to process traumatic memories. I also utilize other forms of trauma therapy that I use on a case-by-case basis.

EMDR?

EMDR is an evidence-based therapy that is non-evasive and utilizes our body’s natural rhythms to unlock these distressful events and move them from short-term memory to long-term memory. Thus allowing the brain to shift from the past to the present.

At this time, I am offering EMDR treatment on a case-by-case basis.

EMDR can be done virtually, but I feel it works better in person.

If you are interested in EMDR, let’s chat. Depending on the situation, doing EMDR online may work for you.

Note: A brick-and-mortar office is in the Mindful Wisdom LLC, business plan. :)

Currently, I only accept self-pay at the time of service.

However, I can provide you with a detailed superbill for you to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement if your plan allows for out-of-network (OON) coverage.

If you are unsure if your insurance provider/plan allows OON benefits, you can call your provider and ask about behavioral health benefits.
